Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and sometimes, we find ourselves in seasons of uncertainty. In those moments, it can be difficult to see God’s plan at work. But Ruth’s story reminds us that even in the most challenging times, faithfulness and trust in God can lead us to something greater than we could ever imagine.
This month, as part of our Women of the Bible series, we are diving into the life of Ruth—her unwavering loyalty, bold faith, and the incredible redemption story that followed. Who Was Ruth?
Ruth’s story is one of love, devotion, and resilience. After losing her husband, she could have returned to her homeland and started over. Instead, she chose to remain with her mother-in-law, Naomi, and step into the unknown. She boldly declared:
“Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” – Ruth 1:16
Her faithfulness led her to Boaz, a man of integrity and kindness, who ultimately became her kinsman-redeemer. Through Ruth’s obedience and trust in God, she became part of the lineage of Jesus Christ. Her story is a powerful reminder that God is always working behind the scenes, even when we cannot see the full picture.
Lessons We Can Learn from Ruth
Ruth’s journey holds timeless wisdom for us today. Here are three key lessons from her life:

Ruth didn’t just wait for her circumstances to change—she stepped out in faith. Whether gleaning in the fields or approaching Boaz, she moved forward with trust that God would provide. When we take steps in faith, God meets us right where we are.
2️⃣ God’s Plan Is Bigger Than Our Present Struggles
Ruth’s life took an unexpected turn, but God was weaving something beautiful through her story. No matter how uncertain things may feel, God is always guiding us toward His purpose.
3️⃣ Redemption Is Always Possible
Ruth went from a widow in a foreign land to being part of the genealogy of Jesus. Her story shows that God is in the business of restoration, no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through.
